WP App Bar

WP App Bar is our new plugin to help make your website more useful to mobile visitors. We developed WP App Bar with local businesses in mind specifically, but any site with lots of mobile visitors may find it useful. It’s now available for free download from WordPress.org.

Here’s a quick demo video of the plugin in action…

The plugin will soon be available for free download from the WordPress plugin directory.

So how does it work exactly?

One installed you’ll have an admin screen that looks much like this…

Via the admin you can enable/disable the plugin and set up to 5 functions that will appear on the app bar. The most useful functions for local businesses are the one tap calling, directions, add to home functions and Google+ links, but you can also add a custom menu, share functions, links to app stores or your preferred social networks.

Here’s the full list of options:

  • Call
  • Directions
  • Search
  • Add to home screen
  • Share
  • Custom menu
  • Skype
  • Email
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Youtube
  • Pinterest
  • Soundcloud
  • Google+
  • Yelp
  • TripAdvisor
  • Menu link
  • Playstore
  • Apple App Store

With the WP App Bar enabled your mobile visitors will see the attractive, app like, function bar at the bottom of you site when on their mobile phone. It will not appear when on a desktop or tablet device. It looks like this…

…that’s it at the bottom of the screen there. One tap to call or get directions, leave a review on Google+ or add your site to the users home screen.

And that’s it. A very simple, but effective way to make it super easy for mobile visitors to engage with the most important information on your site.

It still works well ,thank you for it but i couldnt change icons ,there is no any setting for it and do you think of updating it .

    1. Hi Hayrettin, yes that is correct. There is no setting to change the associated icons. It only supports a specific set of link types, each with an assigned icon.
