Scrn responsive retailer 1

Retailer is an ecommerce theme for online retailers. It is a child theme of the Storefront theme, so this must be installed first, along with the WooCommerce plugin for ecommerce functionality.

Via the customizer you can choose from a range of layout and color options as well as uploading your own logo and header images etc. The also theme includes reviews markup so your products can get the star rating in the search results.

Nice theme. I wanted to use it on my blog that am transferring to WordPress next week.

The design of this theme is very good and simple…

  2. Chuks Emmy says:

Awesome theme Charles, I will try it out on one of my sites and see how it works.

  3. Hi, this is an excellent theme, but I find the carousel/slider on the home page is very big, it would be good to be able to specify the size of this.
How can I disable the slider altogether? I cannot seem to find a way. There is no option on the Slider options page, and no option on the home page control page.

    1. Hi Doug, unfortunately there is not option to adjust the size of the slider, nor to turn it off altogether…both good ideas, just not available at this time. The only way to adjust or remove the slider would be to customize the template code. This is doable but because the theme is already a child theme you can’t set it up as a child of a child theme, which means that if we issue updates in the future any template customizations would be overwritten so making it a bit of a hassle to maintain. Sorry that isn’t the news you were looking for.

Hello, charles. I have an online store, I’m from Spain. And I use Storefront. I really like your son theme. I wanted to know, if you could do your theme to me. And I would pay about $ 29 which is normal in some themes. I just need, that your son theme, use the same header and footer that storefront. So that it is not affected when using woocommerce powerpack. What is happening to me. πŸ˜€ Can you help me? [email protected]

Thank you, and see you soon. πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Jesmar, glad you like the theme. I am no available for customization work like this at this time. I recommend you try Codeable or WP Fixit for low cost changes.

  5. Alex says:

I love this theme, it’s just perfect for my site!

I want my site to look just like the demo, and I have two questions:

    1. How can I remove the “Best Sellers” and “Fan Favorites” sections on the homepage?

    2. How can I make the Primary menu right- or left-justified like the demo? (on my site there’s too much white space in the header area)

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Alex, glad you like the theme. All the controls are in the Customizer. You can control the sections on the home page in the “Homepage Control” section of the Customizer. I should point out that the “Fan Favorites” section is called “Popular Products” in the Customizer. I only just realized that this is a bit of a disconnect…we’ll fix that in future version. The sidebar layout can be controlled in the “Layout” section of the Customizer. Hope that helps. Cheers.

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Jim, glad you like the theme. Looking into your questions now.

    2. Kris says:

      Hello Jim,

You can now download the new version of retailer.

      1. Featured products is now working
      2. You can now choose how many parent categories you want to display. Just go to Appearance -> Customizer -> Homepage Settings

      1. jim says:

        it works well now, thanks

The magnifier on the top bar and arrow on each side in slider doesn’t show.

        please look into it

        1. Kris says:

          Hello Jim,

Please Check the new version. Thank you

  7. Sojib says:

Hey charles loved your theme, i guess it needs some update, if possible can you make some changes so that we can enjoy your theme

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Sojib, looking into an update now. Can you tell me specifically what has stopped working for you?

      1. It works great, Thanks Charles

  8. Nice theme, I’ve installed it on my blog shop and it looks great.

    Thanks for this

  9. Sarah says:

Hi all — Just FYI, as of WooCommerce 3.0 your theme suffers from this problem:

(Summary: WC changed how it designates “featured” products. Site contains the fix, which I implemented in my header and works great. Bug fix for next release!)

    1. charles Charles says:

      Thanks Sarah, we’re on it!

  10. W says:

Hi, love the theme but just updated Storefront and everything’s broken/ all sidebars disappeared (despite individual per-page settings showing they’re still set to default layout)…any advice much appreciated! Or is it better for me to stop using this child theme now to avoid such problems going forward?! Sod’s law, I was planning to back up the whole site later tonight, should have done so sooner!

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi W, I’m sorry to hear you are having such troubles. I’ve just updated Storefront on our demo site and it does indeed mean we’ll need to issue an update with some minor alignment issues for images and titles on the archive pages. But I’ve not had any problem with sidebars disappearing or anything like that so I’m stumped as to what would cause that. Did you make any changes to the theme html or css for your site? If you can share a link we can take a look. Cheers.

  11. Esther says:

Hi! I’m very pleased with your themes but have a little problem.
I configure the “Home page Slider Section” but doesn’t appear after saving changes.
I have saved the template as “Homepage”, but neither.

I’ll appreciate your help. Thanks so much!
    I’m noob πŸ˜›

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Esther, please make sure you have set the home page to display latest posts (see under Settings > Reading). Also have you customized the templates/styles at all?

  12. Isabelle says:

I love the design and features of this theme but is there a way to enable auto-scrolling on the homepage product carousel rather than have people click on the individual images?

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Isabelle, there is no option to turn on auto-scrolling in the slider, though I agree this would be a nice feature. I’ve put it on the list of additions. We’ll look at releasing an update in the next few weeks with this.

  13. Niklas says:

    Hi Charles,

beautiful theme. I got a problem with the menu. It’s not aligned left anymore and the float seem somehow wrong. I also disabled all custom code I added but it still looks the same. You can check it here:

I upgraded to the latest Storefront Version. Might the issue lie here? I also checked and it’s the latest retailer version.

    Thanks, Niklas

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Niklas, I’m not sure what is happening here. I’m running the latest version of Storefront and WooCommerce on tyhe demo site and don’t have any such problem. I suspect that you still have some custom CSS or template change that is impacting the layout here.

      1. Niklas says:

I just deleted and reinstalled both Storefront and Retailer and deactivated all custom code and it’s still the same issue. I also don’t really see any plugin that might cause this to happen. Thanks.

        1. charles Charles says:

Hi Niklas, I’ll take another look. Did you try disabling all plugins just to double check it isn’t plugin related?

          1. Niklas says:

Jap, all deactivated except for Woocommerce. Thanks for your effort!

          2. charles Charles says:

Hi Niklas, your version of Retailer (or Storefront) still looks customized to me. Are you sure you have restored from the original theme with no customizations?

          3. Niklas says:

Yes. Deleted the old ones (Retailer and Storefront) downloaded it fresh from this website and installed it again.

          4. charles Charles says:

Hi Niklas, I’ve not been able to replicate the problem or figure out what is going on here sorry. Have you had any more luck?

  14. Richard says:

    Hi Charles,

Great theme! Is there any way to disable the header completely?
I feel the header is taking too much space especially for mobile users.
I prefer to show them straight with the logo at the top.
    Thank you!

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Richard, thanks very much. Glad you like the theme. There is no simple way to disable the header. This is possible, but you’ll need to edit the theme template files (header.php). Usually I’d say you should set up the theme as a child theme first so that your customizations don’t get overwritten with any future updates. But this theme is already a child theme and at this time there is no concept of a child of a child theme.

  15. Simon Field says:

I seem to have large social media share buttons as well as related products that I cannot get rid of, is this to do with the retailer theme or storefront? Pls help!

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Simon, I’m not sure what you mean by social media buttons, but I can say that the functionality of the theme is all driven by Storefront. Retailer only adjusts the front end styles.

      1. Simon Field says:

Hi Charles, Thanks for getting back to me, I figured it out, it was storefront product sharing, also, what is the fix to the black checkout?

        1. charles Charles says:

Hi Simon, good to hear you fixed those issues. Regarding the checkout, are you running the lastest version of Retailer?

  16. Brandi DeLancey says:

Sure, I will do that now. Thanks!

  17. Brandi DeLancey says:

Hi! I was wondering if there was any way to change the slider so that the product featured image is not auto-resizing? Also, I’d like to keep the slider image for mobile/tablet and right now it is hidden. I can change the css for that, but just wondered if there was an easier way? Thanks so much for your help!

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Brandi, can I ask you to ppost this question over on the helpdesk, that way I can have one of the team provide an answer. Thanks.

  18. kristian says:

Awesome Theme!! Any way to change the color of the checkout? is completely black…

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Kristian, I thought we had fixed this issue. Can you confirm you are using the latest version of the theme as well as the latest WooCommerce and Storefront? If so can you share a link to your site so I can check it out?

  19. Javier says:

Where is the best version of wordpress for her theme?i think the here is the problem. Thanks

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Javier, the latest version of WordPress is always the best. You should never run old versions of WordPress for security reasons. Have you been altering the CSS? If so you must use a child theme otherwise future updates will overwrite your local changes.

  20. javier says:

please help. I can not configure the template as I want. I want to change the texts “on offer” “fan favorites” … the bottom of the cart leaves me in black! and the slider button you want to put view product view “ver producto”. how can I do this? what can I do? the web is and my email is [email protected] I really like the staff and I want in my store! please help me, I can pay, thanks

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Javier, we can’t provide paid support or customization services. For this I really recommend you try WP Fixit. They are much cheaper than we could be and they offer a great level of service.

  21. javier says:

Excelent theme! I using in my web

I have a problem. How change the section “recomended” “favoritos de los fans”..? I need change for other categories. Is posible?

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Javier, I see you’ve figured out those label changes.

  22. Khalil says:

    Thank You Mr. Charles

what about the header background color is not taking effect at all ?

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Khalil, I can’t replicate this problem. Can you please share a screenshot of the option in your Customizer where you are trying to change this? You are using the customizer and not updating the CSS right?

  23. Khalil says:

Dears it’s really a fascinating theme, however product slider is not sowing on my website + color changes is not effecting the header background

    help please ?

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Khalil, have you created a static ‘home’ page and applied the homepage template? If so then it might be a jquery conflict of some kind preventing the slider from loading. To test this you can disable all plugins (other than WooCommerce) and see if that ‘fixes’ the problem. If it does ‘fix’ the problem then you can enable the other plugins again, one by one until the problem re-emerges. Then you know which plugin is causing the conflict. For future reference please post all support questions and requests to our help desk:

  24. Izham says:

I love the template. It’s easy to use.

But there is a problem. I’m newbie here.

Is there any demo template that I can import to use for my website? Thanks.

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Izham, there is no demo content for this theme specifically, but you can import woocommerce demo content if you need it:

Also, to achieve the home page layout as on the demo site for this theme you must take these steps:

      1. Create a new static page and apply the “Homepage” template
      2. Go to Settings > Reading and apply that page as the home page

And that is really it. The Homepage template includes the product slider and category links as on the demo site.

      1. Lucas says:

Hi Charles, the images in the category links for me display a min heigth.

        1. charles Charles says:

Hi Lucas, can you link to your site so we can see you problem?

  25. Ivan says:

    Hi Charlet,
great theme! it works like a charm!

only one question, there’s a way to change the social icon target in the top secondary menu?

    thanks in advance.

    1. charles Charles says:

Yeah, the social media icons are controlled under Appearance > Customize. You can choose which ones appear and where they link to.

  26. Ahmed says:

How can I make a static home page with this retailer theme with products gallery like this?

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Ahmed, please check my reply to the comment above

  27. John says:

I downloaded the theme, but cannot find an option to make a feature page like the one in the demo (default page). I tried to mimic the demo page, the one with a slider and product page on top. How do you create that?

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi John, to mimic the demo just create a static page and apply the “homepage” template. Then go to Settings > Reading and set that page as the home page for your site. Hope that helps. For future reference please post any support requests to our help desk, it just means any answers we can provide might also help others too. Cheers.

  28. JOHN says:

I love the design. But how do you make the carousel product feature in full length screen? I seem can’t do it from the theme.

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi John, I’m not sure what you mean…can you clarify?

  29. Walter says:

Once this is available do we need to download ” the Storefront theme” first, since this is a child theme? And if it is a child theme, once it is updated, we may lost all customization, do we need to have a child theme for this child theme? πŸ™‚

    1. charles Charles says:

Hi Walter, yes you will need to install the Storefront theme before you can use Retailer as a child theme. Good question about making changes to the child theme…at present there is no way to make a child theme of a child theme. The only suggestion I have is to use a custom CSS plugin like Easy Custom CSS to handle your own CSS.
